Charitable Donations

◊ In addition to your generous donation of $1500 to the "Weekend for Bernie" fundraiser for Princess Margaret Hospital, our League has donated $200 to the Oshawa General Hospital Cancer Center fund-raiser Golf Tournament. We have also donated $500 to the Herizon House Shelter for their Christmas fund. These funds have been approved and allocated at the monthly AOHL Executive meetings as our way of giving back to the community.

You are reminded that any player is welcome to attend the monthly meetings and the Annual General Meeting that takes place just after the season's end.

Lindros Charity Tournament

Exciting tournament announcement from Jerry Johnston:

Eric Lindros Celebrity Hockey Tournament for Easter Seals (for kids) … Game day: Fri Nov 7th, 3 games (maybe 4) Whitby Iroquois Park.   Pro Draft Party:Thur night (Enjoy a free beer or two with the Pros – Jerry will buy!).  Essentially, each team will draft a Pro Hockey player on their team for the 3 or 4 games on Friday, determined at the Draft Party Thur night.  (the first year, Jerry did have Eric Lindros on his team and Eric was highly entertaining on the ice and, especially, off the ice with stories and myths of the NHL.  It really was a special experience!)

What’s the obligation?  Player entry fee is $100, which can be recovered if the player achieves the minimum expected fundraising goal of $300.  Check out the link: http://celebrityhockeyclassics.com

Bernie Jeddry

◊ Many of you may have heard that long-time Team Rep, Registrar, and Past President Bernie is in the hospital. I spoke with Bernie Sunday afternoon and he is in good spirits and plans to be back playing this season. He is undergoing a series of chemo-therapy sessions to treat his Leukemia and has good days and days that are not so good. I will be in contact with him and will keep the Team Reps up to date. He needs his rest between treatments and it is probably best not to call at this time. ...paul robertson
